South Africa Is Ready to Go
Well folks, we’re here in South Africa, where everyone here is raring to go. At the rallies across the country on Wednesday, it was pure pandemonium. There were 300,000 of us estimated in Sandton City in Joburg, along with parties elsewhere in the city and across the country. Here’s some video from the event.
And here we are today, just a few hours from Kick-Off. The entire city was very quiet last night, as everyone gathered around television sets to watch the World Cup Concert live from Orlando Stadium in Soweto. (It goes without saying that Shakira garnered the most ooh’s and aah’s from the onlookers in local bars.)
Today, the entire city is out in full force. O.R. Tambo Airport is littered with recently arriving guests, as well as fans rady to cheer on Bafana Bafana. And of course, there are ridiculous queues to retrieve the match tickets.
Here’s Will’s reaction to finally getting his tickets printed and secured!
Live updates to follow from Newtown Fan Park tonight. Let’s go Bafana Bafana! Yebo!
